Overview

Sudanese Arabs and other Arabic speaking Sudanese tribes have primarily moved to Washington DC and Baltimore to get a better life than what they lived in Sudan. A large population of people from Darfur in western Sudan have fled horrific violence and genocide and are living in Baltimore. The needs of these refugees are basic: immigration, employment, medical care, counseling, shelter and food and basic life skills such as learning English, driving and banking. As Christians, we have the opportunity to help them with these needs in the love of Christ, invest in relationships that are openly Christian and gospel sharing, God opens their hearts.  Adjusting to life in America has impacted the hospitality Sudanese people are known for in their own country.  God has given us the opportunities to show love to them here and build relationships that can have eternal impact.

Prayer Points

  • Pray for apartment buildings where Sudanese Arabs are clustered to become locations of house churches that are led by Muslim background believers in Jesus.
  • Pray that Christian organizations will address physical and life needs of these people while lovingly sharing the gospel, growing relationships and making disciples who make disciples.
  • Pray for the wounds of trauma to be healed in the power of the Holy Spirit and through faith in Jesus.
