Overview
There has long been conflict over the region between Christians, Jews, and Muslims claiming it as a holy site. Since the Arab-Israeli war in 1948 ad the 6 Day war in 1967, Palestinian refugees have felt displaced. There has been conflict over the region ever since, with many Palestinians still longing to return to what they consider to be their home land. With the conflict in Gaza in 2023 and the conflict with Iran, there are divisions among the Palestinians as to which side to take. While some side with Hamas and those fighting Israel, there are many who just want peace and feel betrayed and abandoned by Hamas leadership.
While most Palestinians in the DC area have adapted to life in American, many still hold a grudge of displacement and cling to their ethnic identity. One part of this is clinging to their Islamic beliefs, seeing Muslims as supportive of Palestinians and Christians as supportive of Israel. This can create barriers to the Gospel.
