Overview
Egypt is a region that has great Biblical significance, starting with Abraham and his sojourns in the area. It is also where God revealed himself to not only the Israelites but also the Egyptians through the plagues and especially the Passover. As we pray over Egyptians, pray that they would not reject Jesus, our sacrifice. Pray that The Lord would soften their hearts and open their eyes to the truth of the redemption and salvation that is available to them through Jesus, the Lamb of God. Through His blood, they can be covered and delivered from the wrath of God. Through the price of His death on the cross, they can be redeemed from slavery to sin.
Pray also for the 16,000 Egyptian Coptic Christians that live in the DC area. For most of them, Christianity is a cultural religion that they were born into. Most go to one of the Coptic congregations in the area but do not personal relationship with Jesus. Pray also for the Evangelical Egyptian believers that they would be a light to both the Coptics and the Muslims. Pray that the Christian Egyptians would be able to forgive the persecution they experienced in egypt at the hands of the Muslims and reach out in love with the good news of the Gospel.
