Overview

The Somali people living in the DC area came here as refugees after civil war tore their country apart in the late 80’s through early 90’s.  They have worked hard to build lives here, often working together as a community to support each other and pool resources.  As such, the community remains tight and difficult to enter as an outsider.  They are strong in their Muslim faith with few Somali believers throughout North America and no known work being done among them in the DC region.  Pray that the Lord would raise up workers among them and reveal himself to them as a community.

Prayer Points

  • Pray that the Lord would reveal himself to the Somali people.  It will take divine intervention and drawing for Somalis to come to faith in Him, but He has done this with Somalis in other parts of the world.
  • Pray that God would raise up believers who live or work around the Somalis.  Pray that believers would engage their Somali neighbors, coworkers, or the Somali in their community with the Gospel of Christ.
  • Pray that the Lord would raise up or bring in a believer from a Somali background who will be a regional champion for the Gospel in their community.
