Overview

Gulf Arabs are very proud of their Islamic heritage, being from or very near to the birthplace of Islam.  They believe that Allah has blessed them with prosperity to show how great Islam is.  As such, there are fewer immigrants from these countries than some of the others.  Most of those living here are more affluent, and they are here as businessmen, diplomats, or students.  Students are the largest percentage of this group as they study as various universities and colleges in the area.  The main exception to this would be the Yemeni, who are the more typical immigrants who have moved searching for a better life or fled conflict in their country.

While most Gulf Arabs are very devoted to their Islamic faith, many are open and curious when they come to America.  For many of the students, this is their first opportunity to explore other cultures and beliefs.  The Spirit is moving in the Arabian peninsula in incredible ways, with many becoming believers and gathering in underground churches.

Prayer Points

  1. Pray for Gulf Arabs to become followers of Jesus, grow in their faith, and carry the gospel back to their families.
  2. Pray that God would break down walls of centuries Islamic stronghold and reveal to them who Jesus really is.
  3. Pray for Gulf Arab believers and those who are seeking to have the courage to embrace Jesus.  There is a lot of pressure to remain Muslim, and those who convert risk everything.  Pray also that God would shine through believers from Muslim backgrounds and draw their family and friends to Christ.
