Overview
Moroccans represent one of the largest Arabic subgroups in the DC area. The Moroccans who are here have a strong community connection among themselves. While almost all of the Moroccan people are Muslim, many are only nominal in their practice.
The Moroccan dialect of Arabic is drastically different from the other Arabic speakers in the area. The Moroccan dialect of Arabic has strong influences from French and Berber; while they can understand standard Arabic and Egyptian Arabic due to television and movies, most Arabic speakers find it impossible to understand the Moroccan dialect unless they have specifically studied it. While there are a few known Moroccan believers, there is still an incredible need for prayer over the people and intentional outreach to the community.
Prayer Points
- Pray for more workers to engage the Moroccan community with the Gospel.
- Pray for God to open the hearts and minds of Moroccan people to the Gospel of Christ. Pray that Moroccans will come to faith in Christ and take the Gospel back to their communities.
- Pray that believers who live and work around Moroccans would be a light and lovingly engage them with the Gospel.
